The methods for improving insomnia through acupuncture at Yongquan point are as follows:
Acupoint location
Yongquan acupoint is located at the front part of the sole of the foot, at the front one-third of the line connecting the tips of the creases between the second and third toes and the heel. When locating the acupoint, the patient can be placed in a sitting or supine position, with the toes bent towards the sole of the foot. The depression that appears at the front part of the sole is the Yongquan acupoint.
Acupuncture operation
Disinfection: Disinfect the skin with 75% alcohol to prevent infection.
Needle insertion: Use a 0.5-1-inch fine needle and make a direct insertion of 0.3-0.5 inches. When inserting the needle, be careful to avoid the blood vessels on the sole of the foot.
Needle insertion: After the needle is inserted, it can be slightly lifted, inserted, twisted and turned until qi is obtained.
Needle retention: The duration of needle retention is generally 15 to 30 minutes, and it can be appropriately extended as needed based on the condition.
In coordination with acupoints
For patients with insomnia, acupuncture treatment can be combined with acupoints such as Shenmen and Sanyinjiao to nourish the heart, calm the mind and improve sleep quality.
Precautions
