Overview:

Post-Stroke Recovery and Facial Paralysis: A Traditional Chinese Medicine Lecture in Wimbledon

The UK’s cold and damp climate, combined with dietary habits that favour cold and greasy foods, can significantly disrupt the circulation of qi and blood and impair internal organ function. These factors often contribute to the recurrence and prolonged recovery of post-stroke sequelae and facial paralysis. Even after the acute stage, many patients continue to experience weakness, facial asymmetry, numbness or speech difficulties, which can greatly affect daily life.

This lecture explores the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective on post-stroke sequelae and facial paralysis, focusing on disease mechanisms, stage-specific treatment priorities and commonly used therapeutic approaches. Clinical case examples will be used to illustrate practical treatment strategies and key points in rehabilitation.

In addition, the lecture will provide practical guidance on home-based care, including lifestyle management, dietary advice and self-care strategies tailored to different stages of recovery. The aim is to support long-term improvement, consolidate treatment outcomes and reduce the risk of recurrence.
